uh

still in the wrong catagory, however if u wanted it to be more DNB, it wouldhave sounded BADASS if like 4 repeats into the song it made a drumroll into an awesoem drumline, it wouldhave went well with that.

now this isnt as good as the first exerpt, but it got a lil darker.

in fact the first part blows this one away.

philjo responds:

this is definately drumnbass, listen to the drum pattern and the bass! its mellowed drumnbass, that gets heavier and heavier. thx for this review -phil

love it

I really love the effects, and i love that second version of the main synth, it really gets me lost (like trance NOT dnb)

i really like, enough to look past the fact that its very repetitive and its in the wrong catagory lol

damn good job, this is really "pretty" and i don know if thats what you were going for, but i really like it.

philjo responds:

hehehe, damn, im glad u like it! Its actually one of my first tracks, and the three parts are all in the same song, linked by some weird sounds! as i said previously, our opinion on what is trance/DnB is very different. My opinion wont soon change, due to the fact that ive been educated some what by my aunt, who is a DnB DJ and knows whats what. not to worry, we cant agree on everything....glad you enjoyed this thanks a lot for reviewing!

weird

The claps sound a lil weird idk if i like them.

I like the beginning synth, then how you changed it to the bass then added them both together, that worked pretty well, sounded kinda dark.

idk if this can be considered trance, if it is, its like the oppisite Dark trance, or Drance lol.

I do some things like this.

why does this sound like it came off MTV music generator 2 LOL idk its jus the bassline that sounds like that.

btw when u had the leading drums coming in it got REALLY distorted at 2:04

good job, with some flaws.
nice new, different sound.

not great, but its pretty good.

WizardSleeve responds:

yeah this is far from my greatest track, and no it is not trance... its trance and break as i stated in the decription, but there is no breakbeat section on the site to upload music to.

I created the bassline in 3xosc but didn't really phatten it up that much, it doesn't need it for this kind of tune.

I haven't noticed any distortion on the drums but i got big speakers connected to my computer, i really need to get a decent set of moniters to get the levels right for all users.

Thanks for your comments

Different

Well it certainly has a different feel from any things i hear usually.

when the drums kicked in i thought it was gonna be awesome, but then it was jus

Snare -----X---X
Kick X------X--

u know what im talking about haha.

it was pretty cool tho, jus kinda slow from what the reverb suggested.

I LIKED THE VOCAL, that was awesome, i really did not expect that, that added a point onto ur score lol that was really perfectly in there.

(the second vocal was kinda annoying tho)

the second part after the annoying vocal sounded pretty tight, i liked the synth.

Good job

WizardSleeve responds:

Cool glad you liked it. Its lighter than my usual D+B thats why i kept the beat quite basic.

You should take a listen to my tune WAIGFW, its got a mix of Trance, D+B, and hardcore all in one, and i personally think its the best tune i have uploaded.

Your reviews are much apreciated, thank you.

NICE

this is ambiant my friend, catagorise it as ambiant, i REALLY liked the waves, VERY nice, idk how u got that noise.

(didnt care for the packman noise tho)

that was really cool and relaxing.

but (yes there is always a but)
many of the FX were displeasing with the music (the packman one and the high guitar one)

the other FX went good with it.

try mixing it up a bit, and u couldhave taken a sound different from the others, (like some kind of synthstring mix) and put it over everyhting else with a new melody, that wouldhave been cool

overall good tho

Thank you pandora, you by the way are a good critic for a 14 year old, man, you got some ideas.. awesome. sleeping baboons is quite an old piece of music, and i was tired when i made it lol...i used a "malstrom" on reason and mucked around with the modulators and the pink/white noise sound patches, that got me those wind and wave noises which i am proud of hehe thanks mate
later

cool

pretty cool what u use to make ur music, i just use fruityloops and once in a GREAT while ill use something i recorded (like a vocal like in molecular frenzy, a song not submitted lol)

i liked it, but the drums again sounded far away, cept the bass that was fine.

it was definately something different, and again id catagorize this as trance, if the drums were harder or louded maybe DNB

good job tho, i like the FX

philjo responds:

I use many prgrams to make my music, and i use a few hardware devices too. LIST:
reason, cubase, FL, Acid, Nero wav, Anvil, Powertab, and hardware like guiatr effects, a 16 channel mixer with guitar voice, anything that makes a noise really!
your doing very well, if u r restricted to using FL. get reason NOW! I see what u mean about the drums, maybe i could bring them forward a bit in the mix? again, trance doesnt usually include a syncopated drumloop such as this. also, my melodic sounds are a bit to scratchy to fit trance.trance is smooth, ambient, and cheesy! sometimes in a good way mind. glad u like FX, i worked hard on this one. thanks for a great review AGAIN! may coolness descend upon you.

good good w00t

Nice piano work there.
and the weird static was cool too.

drums were kinda far away, not too hard, idk they shouldhave been harder, this in my opinion is a trance.

no real darkness in it, its more "pretty" sounding, and i like (80% of my songs are like this)

this wasnt nearly as repetitive as some of your newer ones, and since theres no way in hell im gonna listen to all your songs, this is my favorite lol.

its short, it has a really nice feel to it, and i really liked this one.

A thing i find fun is to go back and remix your old songs with new things you have learned, maybe you should try it with this one.

Good job
PaNdOrA

btw i voted a 5 on all the songs i reviewed

philjo responds:

yeah the piano is synthesized, and it took me a wee while to dra all the notes in! i basically chose a key, and tried some random note progressions for the key.then i added some chord hits on top, voila, thats the piano. "trance" couldnt possibly endorse this kind of drum pattern, although i see your point, what with the melody and all. i think this tune is a stepping stone toward a heavier, more distorted type of music. i had in mind a scene of vast countryside, viewed from a high trajectory, fitted to this music. once again your review has been greatly helpful, thank you for voting all 5! gimme 5 mate *slap*

I gave you a ten because it is a very well put together remix.

but over the past year?

damn dude i don know how u can spend that long on a song, every song you can hear in my profile took less than a day (unless i was busy or sumptin)

it was pretty good, but as if a pattern in your songs, it seems like they are too repetitive.

sorry to be such a critic (hey i gave u a ten lol) but i get ALOT of critics on my songs, so no worries lol

keep up the good work, sounds like you have some promise.

you have good ideas, and you put them together pretty well, jus work on how OTHERS will percieve it, always think from the mind of the critic.

Good

PaNdOrA

philjo responds:

yeah ive never spent so long on 1 piece of music. its good to finally get some constructive criticism from someone like you who knows a bit more. ill definately be taking your advice, and try to be less repetitive (i have recieved this comment from others too!) but im really chuffed with the overall response to this piece of music, seems like all that time spent has payed off! thanks for this review

good

at the beginning i liked the filter, however the bass went off-key a few times.

and maybe not repeat the bass that many times at the beginning.

once the drums kicked in it sounded pretty cool, the sound went well with the drums, however it was hard to hear the FX in the background, they were noticable tho. (imlistening on headphones, so its of good quality)

when the sound all stopped, then nothin happened when it came back, that wasnt very good...

when you did the stop, you shouldhave went into like a chorus, took the main synth and made it into a 8 sec long rythem and repeated it with super drums or sumptin lol.

idk, you kept the main melody too long, if u keep it and dont change it for that long its very dis-pleasing.

however for the sheer beat of it you get a 7.

REALLY work on the repetitiveness, that thing wouldhave gotten you a 9 if you kept it at like 1 min long (cuz u repeated so much)

overall you had good filtering, and no sounds really overpowered eachother.

you shouldhave AT LEAST ended the song when it was fading out tho.... i thought that was the end and then im like omg its still going?
lol

good job tho
PaNdOrA

philjo responds:

ok im gonna really try and overloook the amount that i repeat loops! sorry i just had to bring it back in i was so pleased with it!i was over the moon with this beat, i think its the best thing ive done.i was thinkin about changing the drums to be even harder, but that was almost impossibe, it wouldve ended up a wall of noise and distortion!
yeah i shouldve added an extra twist when it came back in at the end, good advice! thank you very much. btw my tru alias is "lunaticpandora" (after FFVIII) i use it as a bbs sig. great review thanks

uhh

that was like jazz or new euro style.

the ambiant noises were pretty good, and i liked the feel, but there is no way that was a DNB.

(maybe if u made the drums like umm 100% louder, then MAYBE it could be considered a dnb)
u did pretty good, but too much repitition, and not enough differentiation, if ur gonna make it repeat over and over, make it a short loop..

anyways, u did a good job with the pads and the FX, and stuff. I liked the mix of sounds, they went good with eachother

Garden-Stater responds:

Thanks for the input, if I can, I'll see if I can change the category and if I get enough time, I might edit it down to get rid of some of the repetitiveness.

Trance is not just a genre..... Its an emotion
